Pansélinos
op. 3, 1987
For flute, bass clarinet, harp, 2 percussionists
Duration: 8 min.
World premiere: 1988, Berlin
Composer’s notes
In Greek language, Pansélinos names the full moon. Nevertheless, the title is more of an inspiration than a programmatic, compositional requirement.
This piece features three musical groups: flute and bass clarinet, harp alone and the two percussionists. All three groups have certain musical functions that are varied from the beginning until the end of the piece. By these repetitions, Pansélinos creates the atmosphere of a ritual.
