Composer’s notes
Clarinet solo originated after a request by a clarinetist friend of mine. Already my first compositions were miniatures – this short form inspired me, since it demands to condense the musical content and display it in very short time. Because of this intensity and brevity, the audience has the opportunity after the performance, to let the music sink in.
The musical dramaturgy of this solo piece is based on creating a dialogue from calm and active parts – like an announcement of one voice and a comment from the other. Clarinet solo can be performed between two longer pieces or as an encore.
