15. June, Connection: 35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall – Festival Mecklenburg Vorpommern

Description

Exotic sounds of sitar and duduk, original sounds from the night of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and music by Johann Sebastian Bach – all this and more is offered in this surprising evening, which also celebrates the disappearance of the Iron Curtain 35 years ago with talks, film elements and three world premieres. Because back then, connections were made possible that also encourage us for today.

The Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation has been supporting the further development of contemporary music for 36 years by funding commissioned compositions and awarding prizes to masters of this genre. Different generations are always taken into account. True to this maxim, in 2024 the foundation honoured Vladimir Ternopolski, a contemporary composer of the older generation, and named the young artists Sinem Altan, Bahar Royaee and Pascal Hahn as the recipients of a co-commissioned composition with the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
