As founder and conductor of the ensemble, Konstantia Gourzi carries out ambitious programmes of new music together with students of the Musikhochschule in Munich.

The Project

When Konstantia Gourzi founded ensemble oktopus in 2003, she had a precise vision: The ensemble should move freely, naturally and easily within the genre of new music – just like the octopus in its own habitat.

The ensemble is one of the training orchestras of the university. Its repertoire is focused on the literature of the 20th and 21st century for chamber ensemble and chamber orchestra. Since the very beginning, the ensemble octopus has demonstrated its artistic quality and musical profile through a great variety of projects.

Artistic director Konstantia Gourzi is always searching for new concert formats, interesting venues and cooperation partners, to carry out exciting projects with the ensemble.
